by the way,
As you all know, the season for wearing " single-layer kimono " is getting longer due to the effects of global warming.
I think that's what you're feeling.
If we consider wearing single-layer kimonos from May to June and from September to October, this means that we wear single-layer kimonos for one-third of the year.
Shozan's "Nama Tsumugi" is a masterpiece that is perfect for single-layer clothing.
This time, taking into consideration the environment in which kimonos are worn,
We would like to share the charm of Shozan with you, so we have decided to hold a special exhibition this fall.
The philosophy behind Shozan Resort

Shozan, located in Rakuhoku, Kyoto, is a prestigious dyeing and weaving company that has been in business for 75 years.
Located on land overlooking Takagamine, the resort has a garden, restaurant, hotel, and other amenities, with a workshop located in the basement.
Why does Shozan operate a resort in addition to its traditional Japanese clothing business?
With the mountains of Kyoto as a backdrop, the newly renovated 120,000m2 garden is a must-see. Beautiful Japanese buildings that were destined for destruction after the war were relocated there, and Shozan was established to welcome visitors. The inspiration behind the construction of the "Flower and Greenery Tourist Factory," which aims to deepen understanding of kimonos, is the founder's human philosophy: "Nishijin textiles, which boast a long history and tradition, are the pinnacle of beauty, but the colors and patterns of such beautiful kimono fabrics are born from a beautiful environment ."
(Excerpt from the Shozan pamphlet)
The resort's garden is home to a cedar tree that is over 450 years old.

It's a beautiful and relaxing space.
"Shozan" was an elegant environment where you could come into contact with the philosophy of manufacturing.
Shozan's kimonos are created and delivered based on the philosophy that "beauty comes from a beautiful environment."
What is Shozan "Nama Tsumugi"?
Shozan's raw tsumugi has been loved for over 50 years since its creation. They offer items such as stylish visiting kimono, small patterns, and Nagoya obi.

Its distinctive feature is its unique "feel".
Its appeal lies in its rough, linen-like crispness combined with the luster of silk.
As a single-layer kimono, it is a material that is ideal for Japan's humid climate. The texture of raw tsumugi is created through two techniques: "Zazuriito" (reeling thread) and "Semi-refining."
"Nama Tsumugi" aims to capture the original flavor of the cocoon
"Nama Tsumugi" was born about 50 years ago, during Japan's period of rapid economic growth. Shozan went against the trend of increasing efficiency in the kimono industry, focusing on the hand-spun method of "Joushu Zaguri." Nama Tsumugi has the luster and strength of silk threads that are hand-spun from cocoons.
"Semi-degumming." Raw silk has a structure in which fibers called febroin are wrapped in a protein called sericin. Silk thread is usually degummed through a process called degumming to remove the sericin and give it a glossy finish, but stopping this process halfway through gives it a unique texture.

Another feature of raw tsumugi is its fabric.
Various patterns are dyed in Kyoto.
Many of these will be on display at the exhibition venue.
